Roland Frank Alewine's Obituary
Roland Frank Alewine, 52, of San Antonio, Texas passed away May 17, 2018.
After earning the rank of Eagle Scout, and graduating from Tuloso-Midway High School in Corpus Christi, Tx, Roland served in the United States Marine Corps. His awards include: Sharpshooter Rifle, Sharpshooter Pistol, Sea Service, and Good Conduct Medal. Roland often recounted fond memories of his time in his beloved Corps, and of the brothers and sisters he made during his service to America.
Roland was preceded in death by his grandmothers: Opal Alewine of Houston, Tx. and Vera Calhoun of Pleasanton, Tx.; as well as his "inherited" nephew, SPC. Alexander Missildine, of Tyler, Tx.
Roland leaves behind his father, Frank Alewine of Victoria,Tx. and mother, Jacquelyn Gentry of Pleasanton,Tx; sisters: Cheryl Hunter of Victoria, Tx. and Jodie Missildine and husband Michael Missildine of Elkhart, Tx.; Nephews: Joshua Hunter of Victoria, Tx. and Byron Crawford, of Elkhart, Tx. and nieces: Sarah Boysel and Tara Whittenburg also of Elkhart, Tx.
A brief service will be held on Friday, June 15, 2018, at 10:45 a.m. at Ft. Sam Houston Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas. Due to the briefness of the services, the family asks, in lieu of flowers, to make donations to the San Antonio Salvation Army or Toys for Tots.
Following the service, friends and family will gather to comfort one another and share stories about Roland at the San Antonio KOA Enclosed Pavilion at 602 Gembler Road, San Antonio.
