Yolanda Gonzalez's Obituary
Yolanda Gonzalez “Tita Yole” age 85, was called home to be with our Lord Jesus on August 4, 2023 in Cobden, IL
She was born on January 2, 1938 in Villaldama, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Crecencio Gonzalez de Austria and Aurora Garza Villarreal. Yolanda married the love of her life, Miguel Jr. Gonzalez Martinez on December 25, 1957, with whom she raised four children.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Rogelio & René Gonzalez, her first born baby, Eliel Nahum Gonzalez, her parents, and her husband.
Survivors include her brothers, Arnoldo (Evelia) González, Danilo (Olga) González, José (Rosa) González, and many nieces and nephews.
Also survived by her children, Hiram (Maria Antonieta) Gonzalez of Cobden, IL., Ruby Elizabeth Gonzalez of Peoria, IL; Ruth Lilly (Adrian Martin) Garcia of Peoria, IL, Diana Edith (Gerardo “Jerry”) Lerma from Von Ormy, Tx. Her grandchildren: Miriam (Alejandro) Uribe, Cynthia (Angel) Rosales, Miguel (Alicia) González, Melany García, Victoria (Andrew) Bates, Mariana (Matthew) Liu, Isaí García, Yaniv Lerma, & Oved Lerma.
Her fifteen great grandchildren: Zaira, Gadiel, & Lydia Uribe; Cyndylou, Daisy, & Suzylou Rosales; Emery, Elías, Emmett, Evelina & Eileen González; Emica, Aria, & Asher Bates; Ellie García.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Yolanda was a very dedicated student with many passions. She taught shorthand and business classes at Academia Comercial Juarez y Lincoln in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas. She ran her own business, G & G Beauty Salon in Laredo, Texas. While studying for seminary, Yolanda cared for her elderly parents and her husband and graduated from Rio Grande Bible College. She always found ways to enrich the lives of her loved ones by cutting their hair and making clothes for special occasions like quinceañeras and wedding gowns.
Since the age of twelve, Yolanda lived a full life of faith in action. In her faithful service to the Lord, she was a fervent prayer warrior who shared the good news to everyone who would listen and delighted in discipling new believers. Her tireless and humble testimony enriched church plants including Jesus Es El Señor in Cobden, Illinois. Yolanda loved listening and singing along with her children as they would play the guitar. She would often start the day by dancing along to marimba worship music. She loved telling stories, spending time with her grandkids, calling loved ones, writing Bible Studies, and birdwatching. Her legacy influenced several descendants to serve the Lord in various ministries like Arts, Music, Teaching, and Pastoral Ministry,
Visitation will be held at Camero Funeral Home 20567 Hwy 16 S. Building C Von Ormy, TX on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 from 9:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. with burial to follow at 12:30 p.m. at First Memorial Park Cemetery in Von Ormy, Texas.
