Virginia A. Garza's Obituary
Virginia A Garza passed away peacefully on July 23, 2024. She was 72 years old. She was born in San Antonio, Texas, on March 29, 1952.
Virginia was the second oldest in a large family of 9 brothers and 2 sisters who she loved very much. She grew up in San Antonio and worked as a migrant worker with elder family Members. They traveled to many areas in the northern and southern part of the United States, tending crops through different seasons. This gave her the strong work ethic that she carried on later in life. She loved to tell stories of her journey and experiences of growing up during that time.
Virginia met her sweetheart, Raul at a young age. For years they communicated by writing love letters to each other and Raul promised to one day marry her and give her a better life. He fulfilled that promise to her on August 10th, 1968, when they married in a Catholic ceremony at Little Flower Church in San Antonio TX. Together they created a family of four: 3 boys and 1 girl.
Virginia and Raul shared a love of Conjunto and Tejano Music. They leave behind fond memories of watching them gliding across the dance floor and often being the life of the party.
Virginia had a strong belief in her Catholic faith. Over the years she could not attend church in person, but every night said her prayers and recited her rosary taking the time to pray for each family Member.
Grandma Garza loved her Grandchildren very much, they were often greeted with a hug, big smile with dimples and a house full of food. She was so happy and grateful to have seen her family grow.
Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, Raul Garza Sr; oldest son, Raul Garza Jr.; her brothers Thomas Jr., Angelo, Christopher and Santos; sisters, Concepcion and Ruth; and brother-in-law, Fidencio.
Virginia is loved and will be missed by her sons, David Garza II, Larry Garza (Mari), and daughter Melissa Garza-Romero (Cristian); 6 Grandchildren: Alyssa Marie, Joan, Larry Anthony, Alexander, Journey, Cristian Jr. and Jayden James; 4 great – grandchildren; brothers. Louie (Patricia), Tony, Rudy, Danny, and Ray; sisters-in-law, Concepcion and Frances (Richard); as well as numerous extended family and friends.
