Roger Dale Edwards' Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roger Dale Edwards on February 4, 2026, one day short of his 77th birthday. He was born on February 5,1949 in San Antonio, Texas, the 10th of 12 children, to Maxie Bullard Edwards and William (Bill) Edwards.
Roger was a devoted husband and loving son who supported his dad in his final years. He was a loving father and grandfather and a good friend to many. He was known for his generosity, sense of humor and kindness. Being a great finish carpenter, he was always ready to help everyone with their DIY projects, even after becoming a long-haul truck driver for 23 years.
He served in the Navy along with his brother Bill and loved every minute. He worked in ordnance and was very proud of serving his country. Fun fact: he DJ’d during this time.
Roger loved camping, going to the river and fishing. He loved kids and could usually be found playing with the little ones wherever he went.
Roger is survived by his wife Helen Janecek, his son Jeffrey Edwards and wife Sarah, his daughter Kelsay Edwards, his grandchildren Kelsay Edwards Thomas (Caleb), M’Kayla Edwards, Kensi Edwards, Jude Edwards and Abigail Edwards and his great grandchildren Dawson and Lainey Thomas. He is also survived by his sisters Leona Jablonski, Jean Edwards, Shirley Edwards, Ethel Elkins and Louise Keith, and brothers Kuno Claude Edwards, Cletus Edwards and Louie Edwards as well as many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Maxie and William Edwards, his sister Gracie Emery, and brothers William (Bill) Edwards, Jr. and Dan Edwards.
Visitation will be held at Camero Funeral Home, 20567 Highway 16 South, on February 12, 2026, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Graveside service will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209, on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Shelter 1.
Roger’s legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace.
