A truly sad day today as I have learned of the passing of a very dear friend, Rudy Molina. Really Rudy was much more than a friend. He was like a brother. Our second family the Molinas would come every spring and work with us during the planting season all the way through harvest before going back to San Antonio. My father always told me no one works for you David, they work with you. Nothing was more true with the Molina family. Not only did we work together, we went to school together, played ball together, Rudy was a fantastic ball player he was always the first one picked for a team, we celebrated birthdays together, and loss of family members together. I rode the potato harvester picking dirt and damaged potatoes out with Sylvia, Dina, and there mother Amelia until I graduated to a truck driver. Their father Joe drove the harvester and taught me the right way to drive while loading, every once in a while a potato or small dirt lump would bounce off the cab when I wasnt paying close attention. When I looked over all I saw was that big smile which he passed on to his whole family. Rudy I am so glad you stopped out to see us during beet harvest last year. It was such a surprise and a blessing to see you. I truly ache at the loss of you, my friend/brother and for your whole family for the loss they feel. I know you are with your Mother and Father today and also my folks. RIP Rudy. P.S. I hope now you realize that when we came down to visit your family that year in the late 70's when the vikings lost to the cowboys due to the emmaculate reception my friend, it was offensive pass interference. Just saying. I love you buddy, keep smiling.
