Pedro Cerna Cantu's Obituary
Pedro Cantu Cerna, born October 24, 1959, in Piedras Negras, Coahuila Mexico, to Pedro Cantu Fuentes and Francisca Cerna Cantu, died on October 21, 2023, at his home in Floresville, Texas after battling cirrhosis of the liver. Pedro is survived by siblings, Gloria Gaytan, Leticia Garza, Franshesca Salinas, Dr. Biatriz Cantu-Petty, Sylvia Amezcua, Dr. Irma Cantu, Miguel Cantu, Dora Naranjo; children, Mr. & Mrs. Robert and Diana Lizette Marinez, Pedro Cantu III and Lucianna Eva Cruz, Henry Cantu and Amanda Ashley Menchaca; grandchildren, Sevin Aniah Martinez, Noah Elijah Martinez, Sophia Juliette Cantu, Callie Lynn Cantu, Sebastian Pete Cantu, Camila Grace Cantu, Christian Pedro Cantu; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by parents, Pedro Cantu Fuentes and Francisca Cantu Cerna, and sister, Susie Perez. Pedro was a fighter and started boxing at 11 years of age and continued through his early 20’s. He was a graduate of Eagle Pass High School class of 1979 and later became a truck driver eventually starting his own company, Cantu Trucking. Pedro was a provider, hard worker and prankster who enjoyed making people laugh. His favorite music was Mexican cumbias and loved dancing. He enjoyed selling at the local flea-market and watching the San Antonio Spurs, volunteering at the food bank and being outdoors with his grandchildren and pets. Pedro will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Services will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023, at Harvest City Church at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow at First Memorial Park Cemetery in Von Ormy.
