Patricia Long left this world of suffering and struggle on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, and stepped into her Heavenly Home, which she talked about all the time, by the grace and mercy of her Lord, Jesus Christ.
If you knew Patricia (mom… grandma), she loved you. She never met a soul she didn’t love. And her love was not simply emotions and hugs – there were definitely those things. But if you were in need and she could meet that need, she did it. If it were simply a word of encouragement or affirmation, you received it. If you were hungry, she would feed you. If you needed financial help, she would put herself in debt to provide. If you needed a place to live (whether for one night or several months) her home was open, and you were welcome. She genuinely loved giving to people… and she would give everything she had without a word of complaint. She was also gracious and appreciated anything that was done for her, no matter how large, small, or imperfect. She loved it and loved you for it.
Patricia also loved gardening, red birds, reading, road trips, and going out to eat (it was never about the food). She also enjoyed collecting. She collected paper dolls and cookie cutters, novelty toys and postcards… mostly, she collected relationships. She deeply loved her family, and we deeply love and miss her.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.” (2 Timothy 4:7–8)
