Octaviano Granado's Obituary
Octaviano Granado, born on March 22, 1934, in Hondo, Texas, passed away on December 21, 2024. Raised by parents who migrated from Mexico for seasonal work, he proudly enlisted in the U.S. Military selective service in 1953. He married Mayla on March 23, 1967, and together they raised three children: Mayla, Daisy, and Octaviano Jr. Despite some big challenges, including the birth of his special needs son in 1976 and the loss of his mother and brother on the same day in 1978, Octaviano remained resilient and dedicated. He worked tirelessly as a custodian, serving at both Wilford Hall and NISD's Anson Jones Middle School at the same time for 20 years. He remained with NISD until his retirement in 1995. A devoted family man, he cared for Octaviano Jr. and remained active at home after retirement. He was surrounded by friends who cherished his storytelling and company when they visited. Following the passing of his son in June 2017 and his wife in September 2018, he expressed concern for “leaving” his daughters shortly before his own passing in 2024. However, he was ready to return to our Lord in Heaven and his daughters saw him leave in peace with a lot of love.
He is deeply missed and loved by his daughters and sons-in-law, Daisy Granado Ochoa and husband, Mario Ochoa; Mayla Flores Granado and husband, Albert Prince.
