Miguel Alvarez Cortez's Obituary
With heavy hearts and loving memories, we celebrate the life of Miguel Alvarez Cortez, a man known for his laughter, his generous spirit, and his deep love for family.
Miguel was born on March 20, 1964, in San Antonio, Texas, to Julian Cortez Sr. and Hermenia Alvarez Cortez. He grew up surrounded by family, alongside his siblings Margie, Danny, Janie, Julian “Bebo,” and Elena Marie, and was lovingly supported by his stepmother, Carmen Cortez.
A man of faith, Miguel devoted his life to Jesus Christ, and his kindness and generosity reflected the strength of his beliefs.
Miguel shared a life filled with love and laughter with his wife, Jean Marie Cortez, and their beloved dogs, Snuggles and Mac. Together, they built a home rooted in joy and devotion.
He was a proud and loving stepfather to Kenneth Klesel and wife Priscilla, Vincent Cooper and husband Jacob Mayo, and Shaun Cooper and wife Alivia Sutphin. He embraced them fully as his own and was a constant source of support, guidance, and love. He was also a proud grandfather to Zackary, Jayda, Jonasia, Rose and Ariella, who brought him great joy.
He was a gifted mechanic who could tell what was wrong by simply feeling or listening to a car. He also was a skilled craftsman who could build and fix almost anything. Miguel took pride in working with his hands, whether repairing engines or creating projects from scratch, and he was often the first person family and friends called when something needed fixing.
Miguel loved the simple joys of life, time at the beach in Corpus Christi, building and designing model cars, and especially moments spent with family. He had a natural gift for making people laugh and turning ordinary days into lasting memories.
To know Miguel was to know joy. His humor, warmth, and generosity left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.
He will be remembered most for his love of family, his strong faith, and the happiness he shared so freely with others.
Though we grieve his passing, we find comfort in the memories he leaves behind and the love that continues through his family.
“If Miguel were here, he’d want us to smile, share stories, and remember the good times.”
2 Timothy 4:7: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever remembered.
