Michael Herbert Merten's Obituary
Michael H. Merten, Born Jan. 29, 1968 in West Berlin Germany, was called home to be
with our Lord Dec. 11, 2023 at the age of 55.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert A. and Margaret J. Merten.
Michael is survived by his wife Veronica Merten, Sister Angela R. Garner, Brother David
R. Merten, his children Jennifer Merten, David Perez III, Joshua Merten, and Sierra
Merten. Five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Through the military, Mike’s father retired to San Antonio, Texas in 1972 where he was a
military brat. He graduated from Southwest High School. He joined the workforce at 18
and decided not to attend college. He worked in the plastics industry for over 30 years
and was the branch manager at Allied Plastics Supply for 25 years. Mike was a loving
husband, father, and grandfather to his family. Even through his eleven year battle with
colon cancer, he never let it bring him down. He was loved by so many people who
knew him and he will be greatly missed by so many.
