Mary Ellen Vitela's Obituary
Mary Ellen Vitela was born in San Antonio, Texas, on May 11, 1957, and was called to the Father’s House on December 27, 2025. She grew up in the Amarillo area, then settled in San Antonio, where she spent about 30 years as a caregiver. Indeed, her servant heart led her to care for others.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ramiro Arjona and Estela Olivares; and her two brothers, Joe Manuel Arjona and Ramiro Olivares Arjona Jr.
Loving and missing Mary Ellen are her children, Marcella Vitela, David Vitela Jr., Melissa Vitela and Adam Vitela; 5 Grandchildren; 2 Great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Estella Martinez, Gloria Contreras, Irma Thias and Diana Christy; and nieces, nephews, extended family & friends.
Mary Ellen leaves behind many cherished memories, which will undoubtedly bring her family’s hearts much joy. Her children and grandchildren will remember her every time they enjoy a plate of calabacita con carne de puerco. Her hobbies included crafts and decorating, earning her the nickname “Mexican Martha Stewart.” Music and dancing were also amongst her interests. Perhaps what she will also be remembered for was that she was very straightforward, spoke her mind, always “telling it like it is.” To sum it all up, Mary Ellen loved her family and well, her family adored her.
May Mary Ellen Arjona Vitela rest eternally in the Father’s House, reunited with her parents, brothers and who awaited her with open arms.
