Maria Esther Sanchez's Obituary
Mrs. Maria Esther Sanchez, minister’s wife, mother, friend to many, was peacefully called by God in the morning hours on January 4th, 2022.
Maria Esther Sanchez was born in a rural part of Mexico that she always remembered longingly. She would say, “I would swim with my brother, Elias, in a beautiful river with big willow trees overhanging us”; that's where one of her many affinities, swimming, started. As a child, she also took train rides into “Ciudad Mante”, a town nearby. She remembered getting her hair curled and where much later, in her early 20’s, attended a theological seminary. There she met her friend and husband of 50 years. In 1972, she was the moving engine behind the idea to immigrate to the United States. Happy to fulfill her dream, she worked and studied at the Baptist Theological Seminary in San Antonio, Texas. Maria Esther met her calling to be a minister’s wife in Celaya, Guanajuato ,Mexico, Joliet, Illinois, New Braunfels, Texas and San Antonio, Texas for a total of 20 years of service. Although very apt and gifted with high intelligence, she suffered from a mental illness. However, her mental illness would turn out to be a strength as she struggled her whole life to fight it; she knew that the key to her health was to stay busy. She would do so by being a homemaker, a minister’s wife and a certified nurse’s aide. As a minister’s wife, she received two seminary theological degrees helping her to work hand in hand with her husband serving as a dynamic sunday school teacher and pianist; people would jokingly mention that perhaps she was more familiar with the Bible than her husband. But this wasn’t her all. She simultaneously worked as a nurse’s aide, where she became intimate friends to many elderly making them part of her own family’s circle of friends. In her later years, she provided a loving home to numerous children through the foster care system; she loved to reminisce about the children and prayed that many found their way. s, she created a life full of opportunities for her own children and fiercely supported her husband for her whole 74 years. She was a courageous woman who worked hard despite and because of her illness. Although she will be missed dearly, her spiritual beliefs of God’s promises to one day all be reunited in His Glory, gives her family the courage to say goodbye for now. We love you and your life showed us how much you loved us. She is survived by her Husband, Apolinar R. Sanchez, two Children, Myrna Allen and Samuel Sanchez, two Granddaughters, Abigail Rean Sanchez and Ayanna Lisett Sanchez and a Son-in-Law, Jimmy Allen. A burial service will be hosted on January 12 at 11 AM at Camero Funeral Home and Burial, 20567 Hwy. 16 South, Von Army, TX 78073 . We love you Mom, and although the willow trees, and once in a while we too, will shed a tear, we take courage in the values you taught us. We take courage in this bible verse you most likely knew by heart and memory: “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Revelations 21:4
La Hna. Maria Esther Sanchez, esposa de ministro, madre y amiga a muchos, fue pacíficamente llamada por Dios en las horas de la mañana el 4 de enero del 2022.
Maria Esther Sanchez nació en una parte rural de México que siempre recordaba con anhelo. Ella decía, “ Me acuerdo que nadaba con mi hermano, Elias, en un río muy bonito que estaba lleno de árboles de sauce que colgaban sobre nosotros”; allí es donde nació su amor por la natación. De niña, tomaba el tren a Ciudad Mante, un pueblo cercano. Se acordaba que sus padres le hacían citas para hacerle rizos en su pelo y mucho después, en esa misma ciudad, ella asistió a un seminario teológico. Allí fue donde conoció a su amigo y esposo de 50 años. En el 1972, ella fue la pionera de la idea de emigrar a los Estados Unidos. Felizmente cumplio sus sueño trabajando y estudiando en el Seminario Bautista Teologico de San Antonio, Texas. Maria Esther respondió a su llamado como esposa de pastor en Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico, Joliet, Illinois, New Braunfels, Texas y San Antonio, Texas y sirvió un total de 20 años. Aunque tenía mucha capacidad y dotada con alta inteligencia, ella sufría de una enfermedad mental. Sin embargo, su enfermedad mental sería una fortaleza a menudo que ella luchaba contra ello. Ella sabía que la clave era mantenerse ocupada. Ella haría esto por medio de desempeñarse como ama de casa, esposa de ministro y ayudante de enfermera certificada. Para desempeñarse mejor como esposa de ministro, ella recibió 2 diplomas que le ayudaron trabajar mano a mano con su esposo sirviendo como una maestra muy dinámica de escuela dominical y pianista; de broma la gente mencionaba que quizá ella sabia mas que su esposo sobre la biblia. Pero su mundo no solo era esto. A la misma vez ella trabajaba como ayudante de enfermera donde hizo amistades con ancianos haciéndolos parte de su círculo familiar. En sus años postreros, ella proveo un hogar lleno de amor para niños desamparados en el sistema de foster care; ella recorda
ba viejas historias de los niños y oraba que encontraran un buen camino. Por lo tanto, todo esto creó una vida llena de oportunidades para sus hijos y ferozmente apoyo a su esposo por 74 años. Ella era una mejor llena de valor que trabajó arduamente a pesar de Y por la razón de su enfermedad. Aunque la extrañaremos, su creencia que nos inculcó la promesa de Dios que un día seremos todos unidos con Nuestro Padre Celestial, nos da valor para decir Adiós por ahora. Te amamos y tu vida fue el testimonio de que tanto nos amaste a nosotros. Sobreviven su Esposo Apolinar Sanchez, dos Hijos, Samuel Sanchez y Myrna Allen, dos Nietas, Abigail Rean Sanchez y Ayanna Lisett Sanchez y su Yerno, Jimmy Allen.
