In Loving Memory of Maria Mireles
Born on November 26,1940 in Poteet, TX. Maria Mireles peacefully passed away with her family by her side at the age of 83 on August 22, 2024, at her residence in Poteet, TX. She was a beloved mother, sister, and grandmother.
Maria’s warm presence and caring nature left an undeniable mark on all who knew her. She dedicated years of her life to serving others, spending most of her days as a waitress before retiring from Walmart after a decade of commitment as a sales associate. Maria’s love for her family was beyond compare. She found joy in creating family traditions such as cooking tamales during Christmas with her children and hosting family gatherings during the holiday seasons with her love and warmth. Her doors were always open to anyone in need, embodying a selfless and kind spirit that touched the hearts of those she met.
Maria’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide her children and grandchildren.
Maria is survived by her children Sylvia Pena (Jaime O.), Charlotte Del Toro (Victor), Lisa Mireles (Robert Guerra), Amy Garcia (Yolie), Debbie Pena and David Mireles (Joann Gonzalez); brother Ernest Reyes (Linda); sister Eva Romo; grandchildren Nick, Rebekah, John Jr, Joseph, Jessica, Janelle, Matthew, Nathan, Jacob, Joshua, Pricella, Miranda and Lloyd Thomas; 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Maria was preceded in death by her parents Miguel Reyes and Catarina Reyes; sisters Elvida Rodriguez and Olivia Talamantez; and a brother Benito Reyes.
A public viewing in remembrance of Maria will be held at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church on August 27, 2024, at 9:30am, preceded by a Rosary at 11:00am, followed with a mass. Afterwards, Maria will be laid to rest at First Memorial Park Cemetery.
Maria’s memory will be treasured forever, as we hold her close in our hearts and remember the light she brought into this world.
