Margarita Valdez Maldonado's Obituary
Margarita "Mage" V. Maldonado was called home by the Lord on March 21, 2026, at the age of 93. She was born in Pearsall, Texas, on October 26, 1932, to Melquiades Valdez and Esperanza Ramirez Valdez. Margarita left her family with a multitude of beautiful memories. Amongst her hobbies, Tia Mage, as she was called by her nieces and nephews, she enjoyed her Bingo and Lottery Tickets. And and a lucky lady she was when it came to winning! She was very much about "Family First" and enjoyed spoiling them all -- especially her grandchildren. She was very gifted in kitchen, where everything she created was simply delicious: homemade tortillas, sweet pancakes, candied apples from scratch and her raspa syrups! Everything she did, she did with loving hands. As age made a few things a bit more difficult for her, when the family had a specific request for her, she simply said, "these hands are retired!" Indeed, Mage was a treasure in the family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jose G. Maldonado; children, Rodolfo V. Maldonado, Heidi M. Pastrano and Cynthia M. Valdez; son-in-law, Louis S. Yanez; Granddaughter, Juanita M. Yanez; and Grandsons, Moses and Mike Salinas.
She is loved and will be missed by her children, Margarita M. Yanez, Jose Luis Maldonado, Carino M. Gonzales (Bart Reyna) and Rosalinda M. Martinez; 25 Grandchildren; Nieces, Nephews, extended family and friends.
