Lucia "Lucy" C. Gonzales' Obituary
Lucia “Lucy” C. Gonzales
March 3, 1928 – April 22, 2025
Lucia “Lucy” C. Gonzales, age 97, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025. Born on March 3, 1928, in Dallas, Texas, Lucy lived a long-fulfilled life grounded in faith, love, and family. On November 14, 1944, Lucy married the love of her life, Luis V. Gonzales. Together, they built a warm and devoted home, raising her six children became Lucy’s greatest source of pride and joy.
Lucy made San Antonio her lifelong home, where she raised her children, nurtured generations, and walked faithfully with God. Her strong faith was the foundation of her life — a steady source of strength that guided her through every trial and every joy. She was a prayerful woman who found comfort and purpose in her relationship with the Lord, and her devotion was reflected in the way she loved and served her family.
Though small in stature, Lucy carried herself with incredible grace and presence. She was always impeccably dressed, took great pride in her home, and was a careful steward of all that was entrusted to her. Her thoughtful care extended to everything she touched; from the way she maintained her household to the way she gave of herself. A gifted seamstress, Lucy poured her love into every stitch—crafting clothes, quilts, and cherished keepsakes for those she held dear. She especially loved sewing for her granddaughters, lovingly making many of the clothes they wore as children. In her later years, after she could no longer sew, Lucy discovered a new passion for coloring. It became a joyful and creative outlet for her, filling her days with beauty and peace. Lucy was the heart of her family — a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love knew no bounds. For many years, her home was the gathering place for Sunday dinners, where the aroma of her home-cooked meals, the sound of laughter, and the closeness of family created treasured memories. These weekly gatherings became a cherished tradition, uniting generations around her table.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luisa and Luis Coronado; her beloved husband, Luis V. Gonzales; and her brothers, Cecilio Coronado, Ernesto Coronado, David Lugo, and Domingo Lugo.
She is survived by her loving children and devoted son-in-law and daughters-in-law: George Gonzales (the late Jovita Gonzales), Robert Gonzales (the late Irene Gonzales), Sylvia McPherson (the late John McPherson),
Reynaldo & Isabel Gonzales, Ruben & Margarita Gonzales, and Hector & Angie Gonzales.
Lucy's greatest joy was her family. She leaves behind a remarkable legacy through her 19 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren. Her influence, faith, and loving example will continue to shine through them for generations to come. Lucy will be deeply missed and forever remembered as the heart of her family.
