Lois W. Cortines' Obituary
Lois Willborn Cortines, 76, of San Antonio, TX went to be with the Lord on April 9, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Ophelia (Martinez) Willborn, brother, James Willborn and sister, Joyce Willborn.
Lois was a San Antonio native and attended Providence Catholic School. She remained a devout Catholic throughout her life.
She is survived by her loving husband of over 50 years Lance Cortines and her four children, daughter Lois Plancarte Barnett, sons James Planckaert (Olesea), Blaze Cortines (Misty), and Aaron Cortines (Larissa) and sixteen grandchildren Alex, Aaron, Addam, Andrew, Kaleb, Otilia, Winter, Rodion, Kyle, Matthew, Ryan, Matthew, Alison, Nathan, Caleb and Charles.
Lois’ passions in life were her family and traveling, traits that she was more than happy to pass down to her children. Her careers were always centered around her fondness for traveling. Throughout her career she worked for Braniff Airlines, Eastern Airlines, SATO travel and Southwest Airlines. She loved to travel to Europe, among her favorites places to visit were Rome, Lourdes and Paris as she enjoyed admiring the Cathedrals and taking in the holy places where she felt closer to God. Lois loved the lights and sounds of Las Vegas and visited as often as she could. Lois stayed close to her extended family her entire life and loved to take trips with her brothers and sisters as well as her grown children.
Lois was proud to be the daughter, wife, mother, sister and aunt to members of the San Antonio Fire Department and the San Antonio Police Department.
Lois was the epitome of a loving wife and mother. She defended her children and grandchildren with ferocity, and she would not let a day go by that you did not feel her love or hear her say that she loved you. As a wife, even after 50 years, she still loved making coffee in the morning, going for tacos, and making dinner every night for her husband Lance.
Her gregarious nature made it easy for her to make friends everywhere she went. Her sweet disposition and smile were evidenced by her smile wrinkles. She was a one of a kind and her loss is profound. Lois was a loving, wife, mother, sister, aunt and she will be greatly missed.
A visitation for Lois will take place on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 from 6pm-9pm at Camero Funeral Home with a rosary at 7pm. A Funeral mass will take place on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 11am at St. Thomas More Catholic Parish with interment to follow at Willborn Family Cemetery in Poteet, TX.
