Lelia Garcia Limon's Obituary
Lelia Garcia Limon went home to be with the Lord on January 28, 2025, at the age of 91 years old. Lelia Limon was born to Pedro Garcia and Guadalupe Villanueva Garcia on August 20, 1933, in Pana Maria, Texas. Lelia Limon was also referred to as Lilly. Lilly met her long-life partner in 1950 and married on March 7, 1951. They resided in the South San Antonio area of San Antonio, where she was surrounded by family and friends. In addition to being a wife, she was also a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a great great-grandmother.
Lilly loved her community and worked as a Bilingual Teacher’s Aide at Antonio Olivarez and also spent time organizing meetings for the Parent Teacher Association. She served as President of this organization on that campus. Lilly had a fervent love of her faith and served as a Bible Teacher at her local church, Templo Bethel. She continued her ministry as she served side by side with her late husband co-pastoring in a small Non-denominational Christian Church in Von Ormy, Texas. She led praise and worship and emphasized the importance of serving God. Lilly was a great example of a woman of faith; and
believed in prayer and miracles. Lilly was a prayer warrior everywhere she went. She enjoyed ministering to children, and married couples; and empowered them with God’s Love, forgiveness, and mercy. She blessed and encouraged friends and family in all circumstances.
She will always be remembered as Hermana Lilly or Hermana Limon. Lilly never wavered in her faith and continued until her last days in the capacity of a Bible Teacher at Lakeside Nursing Home where she resided. She attended church with her family every Sunday at Elevate Ministries. Lilly had many hobbies that included carpentry, the love of nature, gardening, baking, cooking, and was a movie enthusiast. Lilly loved family social gatherings, backyard barbeques, and any celebration. In her younger
days, she enjoyed playing baseball with her children and the neighborhood kids. She loved laughter and she herself, carried a big wonderful gleaming smile.
Lilly is preceded in death by her husband Juan L. Limon, parents Pedro and Guadalupe Garcia, brothers Joe Garcia, (Josie) Robert Garcia (Maria) Santiago Garcia, son Pete Limon and daughter Sylvia Barrera. Lilly was the matriarch of her family. She leaves behind 6 children and their spouses. Her legacy will continue through her children, Norma Munoz
(Roger), Delia Sanchez (Richard) Daniel Limon (Margarita) Ronald Limon(Kathy) David Limon (Ann), Rebecca Reyes (Basilio). She leaves behind 33 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren, and 9 great, great- grandchildren. She has a surviving sister Sulema Almendarez (Tino) and many nieces and
nephews. Lilly will be missed by all she encountered throughout her life. Her family will miss her love, smile, and guidance.
A visitation for Lelia will be held Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel Trevino, 2525 Palo Alto Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78211. A prayer service will occur Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 7:00 PM, 2525 Palo Alto Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78211. A funeral service will occur Friday, February 7, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Elevate Ministries, 130 Saipan Pl, San Antonio, Texas 78221. A graveside service will occur Friday, February 7, 2025, at First Memorial Park Cemetery, 20567 TX-16, Von Ormy, Texas 78073.
