Lawrence Alfaro Jr.'s Obituary
We celebrate the life of Lawrence “Larry” Alfaro Jr., 42, of San Antonio, Texas, who died on Saturday, November 23, 2024. Larry was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend, whose love for his family and compassionate spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Larry was born in San Antonio to Erminia “Minnie” Sosa Flores and the late Lawrence “Larry” Alfaro Sr. He grew up with a strong sense of family and loyalty, which began with his brother Michael and sisters Erica and Melissa.
Larry was a pillar of support, known for his caring heart and unwavering generosity. He was particularly devoted to his nieces and nephews—Honesty, Michael Jr., Serenity, Noah, Jonathan, Eva, Nevaeh, Nolan, and Camila — whom he loved unconditionally. Larry lived by the motto, “Be the person you needed when you were younger,” and truly embodied this in his relationship with the children in his life. He was not only their fun-loving uncle, but also their protector, mentor, and friend.
A lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, Larry had a passion for video games and loved spending time with family and creating memories. He was a giver, always ready to lend a hand when someone was in need—whether it was showing up to help with a flat tire, opening his home to family and strangers during tough times, or sharing words of encouragement. Larry’s kindness and selflessness knew no bounds.
Larry followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, becoming a truck driver, a role he took great pride in. Even after being diagnosed with Leukemia, Larry maintained his positive outlook and made it his personal mission to bring joy to all those around him. He would make light-hearted jokes and always ask his doctors and nurses how their day was, even in the face of his own struggles. His ability to care for others, during his most challenging moments, is a testament to the strength, humility, and generosity of his character. Though he suffered long, he never complained but always trusted in his Lord Jesus Christ.
Larry’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and everyone who was touched by his kindness. He is survived by his loving mother, Minnie , his stepdad, Casey, his sisters, Erica and Melissa, his brother Michael, sister-in-law Daisy, and his beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Alfaro Sr., his grandma, Leocadia Sosa, and aunt Mary Ann Lopez.
As we mourn Larry’s passing, we also remember the joy and laughter he brought into our lives. May we carry forward his legacy of kindness, generosity, and love for family.
2 Timothy 4:7-8
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
