JoAnn O. Alaniz's Obituary
JoAnn (Ogden) Alaniz, age 68, of Poteet, Texas passed away at her residence on January 15, 2015. She was born on August 12, 1946 in Rossville, Texas. She is survived by her husband Leo Alaniz, daughter Roxanne Lopez of Poteet, son Albert Ray Lopez & wife Heather of Devine, Texas. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mrs. Alaniz is preceded in death by a son Raymond Lopez, Jr., parents, Johnny and Candida (Cortinas) Ogden, sister Olga Martinez and brother Johnny Ogden.
She worked for many years as the WIC Director (A Special Supplement Nutritional Program for Women, Infants and Children). She took great pride in her WIC babies. She loved watching sports, especially college football. She was a loyal Texas Longhorn fan. She was proud of her children. Her happiest moments in life were watching her son Albert play sports. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved to cook and always invited everyone to the table. She had a great sense of humor with an infectious laugh. She cherished the moments she spent talking on the phone with those that were near and dear to her heart. She appreciated those who always took the time to give her a call. She often reminisced about her dancing days and never lost her love for the Golden Oldies. Visitation will begin on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church, 274 Avenue H, Poteet. A Rosary Service will be held Sunday evening at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 19, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Ogden Cemetery #2, Rossville, Texas. Services under the direction of Camero Funeral Home.
