Jesus Marmolejo's Obituary
Jesus R. Marmolejo, born in San Antonio, Texas on October 14, 1936 to Jose and Aurora Marmolejo, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 surrounded by his family. Known by his friends as “Jesse” or “Chuey”, he grew up in San Antonio. He joined the US Air Force as a young man and served his Country honorably. His bravery during the Vietnam War earned him The Air Force Longevity Service Award with 4 Oak leaf Clusters and a Bronze service star along with The Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 3 Oak leaf Clusters. He retired with honors from the US Air Force. He also graduated from Southwest Texas University with a Master’s degree in Psychology. Jesse is remembered by his service in the United States Air Force and his ongoing work with the Vietnam Museum. He spent time at the Mission Open Air Flea Market sharing memorabilia from the Vietnam War with many adults and children. He also enjoyed dining at Bill Miller and enjoying fried chicken, “pico de gallo” and sipping iced tea. He played bingo regularly and was always making his friends laugh. We will always remember his generosity and infectious laugh. Jesse loved his cats Ugly and La Santa Claus. They are missing their “dad”, too.In addition to his wife Celia, he was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Aurora Marmolejo and his sister Lupita Kennedy.Jesse is survived by his wife, Maria: daughter, Aurora Delgado and husband Eddie Delgado, son, Jose Marmolejo, and daughter, Margaret Sanchez; grandchildren, Jessica Baerg, Faith Pena, Christal Brady, Grace Delgado, Justin Delgado, Felicity Delgado, Katie Delgado, Suzanna Delgado, Jonathan Delgado, Nathan Marmolejo, Sabrina Marmolejo, and Michael A. Sanchez, Jr.; also great-grandchildren, Melody Luna, Makenzi Luna, Romeo De La Rosa, Jr., and Zaryna De La Rosa. He is further survived by his sister Janet Mejia and brothers, Jose and James Marmolejo and wife Debbie, other relatives, and many friends.It was Jesse’s wishes to be cremated. The family will receive guests on Sunday afternoon, August 7th from 12 noon until 3:00 p.m. at the Camero Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home Chapel. Jesse, as a Veteran, will also receive a Military Funeral Honors Ceremony at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery located at 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, Texas on August 8th at 10:30.Arrangements are under the direction of Camero Funeral Home.
