Jesse D. Herrera Jr.'s Obituary
Jesse D. Herrera, born on November 8, 1947, passed away at his home in San Antonio, Texas on November 14, 2025 at the age of 78. He is survived by his children, Catherine Herrera Gomez (Miguel) and Monica Herrera DeHoyos (Adrian); siblings, Janie Flores, Genaro Cantu, Jr. (Dora), Tracy Hernandez (Hector); grandchildren, Jesse, Jennifer, Angel, Joshua, John Michael, Jezalyn, Cameron; 11 great grandchildren; as well as 13 nieces and nephews. Jesse is preceded in death by his stepfather, Genaro Cantu, Sr., and mother, Frances D. Cantu; sister, Anita D. Herrera, and daughter, Jessica Herrera.
Jesse was a lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboy. He had a rave gift for making others laugh and smile, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path to listen to his jokes. He had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge-- his favorite topics ranged from Civil War history to present day politics. Jesse was a master mechanic, if you ever needed guidance on your vehicle performance, he was there with his knowledge.
Jesse was also a proud Army veteran having served three tours in the Vietnam War. He served his country in the Special Forces. Jesse will be missed by all who know and love him.
