In Loving Memory of Irene R. Ortiz
It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Irene Ortiz, who peacefully departed this life on May 15, 2025, at the age of 82. Surrounded by family and friends, she transitioned to our Lord’s kingdom, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love.
Irene was born on October 20, 1942, in Lytle, Texas, to Simon and Natalia Roque. From a young age, she exemplified kindness, resilience, and a nurturing spirit, qualities that would define her life and inspire all who knew her. She married the love of her life, Jesus Ortiz, on December 23, 1972, and together they shared 42 beautiful years filled with love, laughter, and enduring partnership.
A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Irene dedicated her life to her family. She was the proud matriarch of a close-knit and loving family, and her home was always a welcoming place filled with delicious meals, warm hugs, and heartfelt conversations. Her grandchildren, in particular, were her pride and joy. She delighted in their stories, achievements, and adventures, always offering wisdom and encouragement with gentle affection.
Irene had a quiet strength and a generous heart. She gave selflessly, listened patiently, and loved unconditionally. Whether through her acts of service, her comforting words, or the simple power of her presence, she touched many lives and leaves behind a legacy of compassion and grace.
A woman of deep faith, Irene found comfort and purpose in her spiritual life and was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Devine, Texas.
Irene is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and seven siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Ortiz; son and daughter-in-law, George and Rosy Ortiz; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her brother, Tony; and her sister, Janie.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Camero Funeral Home. Internment will take place at First Memorial Park on Friday, May 23, 2025, beginning promptly at 10:00 a.m. Following this, a celebration of Irene’s life will take place at Dream Events Hall at 12:30 p.m. Family and friends are invited to come together to honor her life, share memories, and say farewell to a truly remarkable woman.
Though she is no longer with us in the way we wish, her spirit lives on in the lives she shaped, the love she gave, and the example she set. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
