Hector Salvador Serna, 43, formerly of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025, in a car accident in Stephan, South Dakota. Hector was born October 8, 1981, to Roberto and Delfina Serna. He was preceded in death by his father, Roberto Andres, survived by his mother Delfina, three brothers Roberto Jesus (Mary) of Canton OH, Enrique Andres of San Antonio and David Corey of San Antonio. He is also survived by his five nieces and nephews.
Upon graduating high school pursued his ambitions, with perseverance and determination and earned his Bachelors of Arts and his Bachelors of Science from Briar Cliff University. Then proceeded to further his education, obtaining his Masters of Science and a Master of Science Education from Fort Hays State University, all while working as a science instructor at St. John's Military School in Kansas.
His work in education spanned multiple roles while working as an educator, principal and even a district superintendent, filling in any critical positions to ensure his students had no interruptions in their school routine in South Dakota and North Dakota, once even acting as a transportation specialist, and an athletic director. Hector cared for all his students, making their needs his priority, always lovingly referring to them as "my kids", because in their time together, they all became part of his heart. Hector was an admired member of Crow Creek Tribal Schools of South Dakota, where once a Chiefton always a Chiefton.
Viewing will be held at Puente & Son's Funeral Home on August 7, 2025, mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Health with funeral at First Memorial Park Cemetery on August 8, 2025, in San Antonio, TX.
