Hector Reyna's Obituary
Hector P. Reyna, age 62, of Poteet, Texas died unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 while at work in San Antonio, Texas.
He was born in Lubbock, Texas to Jose Cruz Reyna and Nieves Pena Reyna on October 28, 1961.
He graduated from Somerset High School in 1980 and shortly after began his career in the waste industry. Hector met and fell in love with Sandy Olveda. They were married in 1983 and had three children. In 1984, Hector joined the U.S. Army as a Specialist in the 183rd Maintenance Company. He served in Texas, Washington, and overseas in Germany. In 1988, Hector was honorably discharged from the military.
After the Army, Hector went back into the waste industry. He started as a driver and worked his way up to management. Over the next 36 years, he became a well-known and respected individual in the waste industry in the San Antonio area.
For Hector, failure was not an option. He was a highly seasoned entrepreneur, having owned and sold four different waste disposal companies. He built each one from the ground up through a lot of hard work, knowledge, perseverance, and with the support of his loving wife.
He was a loving husband, devoted father and loyal friend. Hector was the life of the party who loved making everyone laugh. A kid at heart, children would gravitate toward him. He enjoyed being a grandpa and playing with his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Hector was the type of person who would go out of his way to help anyone. He enjoyed going to Steelers games, fishing, classic cars, and working on his home. He loved hosting bar-b-ques and parties.
He will be deeply missed by everyone who was lucky enough to have met him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Cruz Reyna, Nieves Pena Reyna, son, Andrew Jason Reyna, brother, Richard P. Reyna, sister, Connie Reyna. Hector is survived by his wife, Sandy Olveda Reyna, son, Hector Reyna Jr. and spouse, Kyle, daughter, Victoria Reyna, brothers, Joseph B. Reyna, Ruben P. Reyna, sisters, Diana M. Reyna, Rachel P. Reyna, Deborah Reyna, grandchildren, Nathaniel Rodriguez, Nadia Rodriguez, Nicole Rodriguez, Lincoln Ross Reyna, great grandchildren, Abraham Josiah Ramirez, Dalilah Seraphina Gonzalez, Ambrose Hector Ramirez and numerous other relatives.
