Gilbert Sanchez's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Gilbert Sanchez
July 9, 2025
With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Gilbert Sanchez on July 9, 2025. Gilbert was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend—known for his kind heart, easygoing spirit, and deep love for his family.
A hardworking man, Gilbert retired in 2016 after 33 years of dedicated service at UT Health, where he served faithfully as a janitor.
Gilbert had a joyful soul. He loved listening to oldies and Spanish music, and he rarely missed a chance to dance or sing along to his favorite tunes. His playful personality came through in his words—often saying things like “I got your back,” “I got you covered,” or “Okie dokey smokey pokey”—phrases that will echo in the hearts of those who loved him.
In his final years, Gilbert found peace and joy in reconnecting with his daughters. Those precious moments of laughter, understanding, and renewed closeness brought great meaning to his life and left his family with treasured memories.
He is survived by his three daughters, Delia Perez, Corina Coronado, and Monica Perez and his beloved Sister Genevive “Janie: Marmolejo; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom were blessed by his love and guidance.
Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brothers and sisters.
He will be remembered not only for his strength and sense of humor, but for the way he made others feel safe, loved, and understood. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
