1934 – 2021
Gilbert J. Gonzales entered into the kingdom of our heavenly father on September 3, 2021 at the age of 86. Gilbert was born in Poteet, TX on December 29, 1934. He was preceded in death by his wife Maria Lidia Gomez Gonzales, Parents Jose Gonzales and Lucila Barrera Gonzales, Brother Domingo Gonzales, Sister Consuelo Alvarado, and Son Tony Gonzales. Gilbert and his wife Lidia were married 67 years and together they cherished a family consisting of 7 children, 23 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Gilbert retired from Western Auto after 45 years, he and his wife traveled the east coast and visited many cities in Mexico and Canada.
One of the many things Gilbert loved was to watch his children and grandchildren in many different sports. He was a loving family man who always opened his home up to others; if anyone ever needed anything Gilbert was always ready to help.
We are so blessed to have received many answered prayers and miracles over recent months. Gilbert’s faith was strong and he is home now with his heavenly father, he will be missed and we will cherish his precious memory until we meet again.
Our family wishes to express our appreciation to each and every one of you for your attendance and expressions of sympathy. We would also like to thank Vitas and their staff for all the help that was provided. Thank you to our family and loved ones for being with him and never leaving his side until his last breath. He was never alone.
