Evelia Y. Muraira's Obituary
With heavy hearts, we share that Evelia Y. Muraira, age 86, entered eternal rest on Friday, July 10, 2026, in Somerset, Texas. Surrounded by the love of her family, she leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unconditional love that will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
Evelia was born on August 13, 1939, in Von Ormy, Texas, to Mariano Ytuarte and Erlinda Luna Ytuarte. As the youngest of her family, she was raised with strong values, a caring heart, and a deep devotion to those she loved. Throughout her life, her greatest joy was found in caring for her family and making others feel welcomed, loved, and at home.
For many years, Evelia proudly worked as a school bus driver for the South San Antonio Independent School District. She safely transported generations of students, bringing dependability, patience, and kindness to each day. Her warm smile and gentle nature left a lasting impression on the students, families, and coworkers whose lives she touched.
Evelia was preceded in death by her parents, Mariano Ytuarte and Erlinda Luna Ytuarte; her beloved sons, Henry Guerra and Herman Muraira Jr.; and her loving daughter, Elvia Guerra.
She leaves behind her devoted husband, Herman O. Muraira, with whom she shared many precious years and countless memories. She is also survived by her loving children: Sylvia G. Bermea and her husband, Frank; George Guerra and his wife, Sylvia; Gloria G. Rodriguez and her husband, Robert; and Johnny Guerra. She also leaves behind her beloved daughters-in-law, Celinda B. Guerra and Laura C. Muraira.
Evelia also leaves behind her 29 cherished grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, 20 great great-grandchildren, extended family, and many dear friends. Each of them carries a piece of her love, warmth, and beautiful spirit in their hearts.
She will always be remembered for her caring heart, generous spirit, infectious smile, and the unwavering love she gave so freely. Her home was a place of comfort and warmth, and her family was the center of her world. Her greatest legacy is the love she planted in the hearts of those around her—a love that will continue to guide and comfort them.
She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and tenderly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. at Palm Heights Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph South San Catholic Church with a funeral procession to depart the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow at First Memorial Park Cemetery.
