Ernestina M. De Leon's Obituary
Ernestina M. De Leon, was known as Tina or Mrs. De Leon to many and affectionately called Lita by her family passed away on December 7, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 87.
Born in Mexico, Ernestina lived a life defined by resilience, determination, and strong devotion to her family. She left her home at eight years old to begin working to help her family. Her sacrifices created a life of strength and tenacity.
Sights set on a better future; Ernestina crossed the river into the United States to become a proud citizen. Despite only having a 7th grade education, Ernestine earned her GED and went on to earn an associate’s degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She joined the nursing staff at the Robert B. Green Clinic in downtown San Antonio. Her long meaningful career allowed her to witness the clinics transformation of the local county hospital to a national acclaimed research hospital once they affiliated with University of Texas Health Science Center.
Ernestina was more than a nurse to her family. The many names she answered, Mom, Mommy, Abuela, or Lita, were all synonyms for warmth, wisdom, and unconditional love. She will be remembered by her family for her awesome cooking, soft shoulder to rest on, and the many consejos she provided to help guide her family.
She is survived by her son Saul De Leon; daughter Frances Gruber and her Husband Edward Gruber; Grandson Christopher Robertson and spouse Erin Robertson; Granddaughter Elena Robertson and her spouse Chandler Coleman; Granddaughter Celine Robertson; Great Grandsons Aiden Robertson and Niko Robertson; Great Granddaughter Mia Robertson; Niece Julia Domanick and her spouse Joe Domanick.
Ernestina was preceded in death by her father Pedro Morales; Mother Francisca Prado; sister Maria Morales; brother Guillermo Morales and his spouse Paula Morales, Nephew Francisco Morales; niece Julia Domanick and her husband Joe Domanick.
Ernestina requested a direct burial with a small service at the burial site to be held.
Wednesday December 17, 2025, at 11am.
Ernestina was a woman of courage, strength and enduring love. She personified what hard work, faith, and devotion looked like. May the memories of her service and love comfort her family and all who knew her.
