Edilberto Viera Gonzales' Obituary
Edilberto Viera Gonzales, age 92, passed away on May 6, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. He was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Born on February 24, 1932, in Nixon, Texas, Edilberto, affectionately known as Beto, served in the US Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1960. Following his military service, he dedicated over 25 years of his life as a civilian employee at Kelly Air Force Base, eventually retiring from his position. Beto's commitment and dedication to his work were commendable, and he leaves behind a legacy of hard work and service. His memory will be cherished by his family and all those who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lily Gonzales, parents, Benjamin and Francisca Gonzales, sisters, Francis Alvarez and Flora Gonzalez, brother Paul Gonzalez, son in law, Miguel A. Castillo, sister-in-law, Esther Gonzalez, brothers-in-law, Juan Gonzalez and Bernabe Alvarez. He is survived by his loving daughters, Hilda Castillo, Sonia Camacho (George), Maria Kibiger (Christopher), sons, Albert Gonzales (Rebecca V.) and Abel Gonzales (Lisabeth), sisters, Guadalupe Gonzalez, and Sofia Gonzales Lopez. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Anisa L Martinez (John), Liliana Camacho Alva (Angel), Lauren Camacho, Jacob Camacho (Sabrina), Sophia L. Camacho, Aadan Jonah Gonzales, Alyssa Arielle Gonzales, Izabella Kibiger and Noah Kibiger and 6 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Brookehill Funeral Home, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and the Rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm. The family will depart at 9:15 am on Thursday, May 16, 2024, for Mass at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, 1214 Stonewall St, San Antonio, TX 78211 at 10:00 am followed by burial at First Memorial Park Cemetery after the mass. He was loved by all and will be deeply missed.
His family is deeply grateful for the exceptional care and support provided by the staff at Timberhill Villa, Parkway Assisted Living, and Three Oaks Hospice during their father's last years of life.
