David G. Saucedo's Obituary
It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved David G. Saucedo, husband, father and grandfather.
David was born September 3, 1944, to Serafina Gonzales Saucedo and Jose Infante Saucedo and departed this world peacefully on July 6, 2024, in his hometown of San Antonio, Texas. David was 79 years of age at the time of his passing.
Raised on San Antonio’s Westside David had 12 bothers and three sisters. Living siblings include Martin Saucedo, Ignacio Saucedo, Valentine Saucedo, Raymond Saucedo, Santos Saucedo, Tony Saucedo, and Lilly Saucedo. He attended Edgewood High School where he was all-star football player and where he met the love of his life Raquel Reyes Saucedo who he married in 1967 at San Fernando Cathedral.
The idyllic couple, the football player and cheerleader, David and Raquel celebrated nearly six decades of marriage and built a beautiful life together on their little ranch on San Antonio’s Southside. The couple had two children, Gina Yvonne Saucedo (Inez Cindy Gabriel) and David Reyes Saucedo (Veronica Casas). He was also proud grandfather to David Ra Saucedo and Azareel Drake Saucedo.
In 1967 David joined the San Antonio Police Department where he served with honor for 20 years. He retired in 1987 as a Lieutenant on the force. Retirement allowed David to spend time on their property caring for the many horses which he loved along with ducks, chickens and many other animals over the years. He stepped out of retirement after a few years and enjoyed a second career with State of Texas’ Licensing and Regulatory Office where he worked for nearly a decade.
David enjoyed family life and spent many weekends at the family’s second home at Canyon Lake where he loved taking everyone out on his boat. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and family to all the beautiful beaches and historical cities in Mexico to include Cancun, Puerta Vallarta, Acapulco, Mexico City, Guadalajara and Aguas Caliente. He was also a fan of the infamous Brat Pack and visited Las Vegas often to catch Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin or Sammy Davis Junior in concert.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, David’s legacy will forever include the caring and loving home he provided for his wife and family and his many years of public service as a police officer.
