Celia Faz Ramirez's Obituary
Celia Faz Ramirez, longtime resident of Poteet, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at the age of 78 years.Mrs. Ramirez was born on April 26, 1937 to Rudy Faz, Sr. and Amelia Faz in San Antonio, Texas. She was a devoted wife to Jesus (“Jesse”) C. Ramirez for 53 years, and mother to her six sons, Miguel (“Mike”), Mario, Rene, Ronnie, Charles, and Chris Ramirez. Mrs. Ramirez is survived by her sons, Mario Ramirez and wife Alice of Grapevine, Rene Ramirez of San Antonio, Charles Ramirez and wife Melody of Plano, and brother Rudy Faz and wife Olga of Helotes. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren: Eva Maria Ramirez, Lindsay Ramirez, Alex Bergman, Isabelle Bergman, Travis Ramirez, Kyle Ramirez, Felicia Ramirez, Victoria Ramirez, Manuel Ramirez, Derrick (wife Laura) Ramirez, Brandon Ramirez, Jared Ramirez, Amber Miller (husband Luke), and Kenneth Gross as well as 13 great grandchildren. Celia was preceded in death by her husband Jesse, sons, Ronnie, Mike, and Chris Ramirez, and sister Viola Nava. Mrs. Ramirez loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Even though she was a busy mom raising six sons, she found time to serve as Poteet City Judge, volunteered with the Special Olympics, and was an active member of the Poteet Aggie Booster Club. She was also a Lions Club member with East Texas State University where her sons Mario and Charles played football. Celia had a full and happy life and enjoyed dancing and music, especially mariachi music. She will be remembered fondly for her love of family, including her extended family members, and always welcomed family and friends at her home. Pallbearers will include Derrick, Brandon, Jared, Manuel, Terrance, and Travis Ramirez, Alex Bergman, Patrick Garcia, and Miguel Angel Garcia III. Visitation will begin at 4:00 P.M. and a rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Sunday, Oct. 18, in the St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Poteet. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 19, 2015, in the St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Poteet. Interment will follow in the Madre Dolorosa Cemetery #1 in Poteet.
