Celia B. Gutierrez's Obituary
Celia B. Gutierrez, born July 10, 1945 in San Antonio, Texas went home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at the age of 74 years. She was surrounded by loving family and not far from her home in Poteet, Texas when she passed. She is preceded in death by her siblings and parents, Casimiro Rivera and Herminia Guerrero Rivera. She is survived by her loving husband, Fortino Gutierrez, Jr., daughter, Carla Laird and son-in-law, Jose Carlos Laird and granddaughter, Samantha Roman.
Following in the footsteps of their mother and aunt, Celia and her sister, Maria Josefina Gauthier Fink, took over as co-owners of a local tavern, Las Dos Hermanas, which was located just south of downtown San Antonio for many years.
It was the simple blessings in life that Celia enjoyed most, like dancing in the rain with the love of her life, afternoon barbeques with family which carried into the late hours of the night, relaxing with her daughter and lounging with her beloved dogs. She loved spending time with her precious granddaughter Samantha to whom she passed on her knowledge of gardening and cooking. Her green thumb and passion for gardening was evident by the multitude of flourishing plants and trees she nurtured from seeds and clippings.
Celia and Tino celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary this past June and their love and devotion to each other as well as their generosity to so many, is proof that the goodness of God is all around.
Celia will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her and the outpouring of love and prayers has been tremendous. It was her wish to be cremated and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. to celebrate her at the Camero Funeral Home Chapel located at 20567 TX-16, Von Ormy, TX 78073.
For those that would like to participate, an informal rosary will be recited at 11 a.m. with memory sharing at noon. Condolences may be offered at www.camerofuneralhome.com.
