Antonio R. Rodriguez's Obituary
Antonio R. Rodriguez was born in San Antonio, Texas on May 10, 1932, and entered
into rest with our loving Lord on August 29, 2024, at the age of 92.
Antonio, also known as Tony to many, was born and raised on the south side of San
Antonio. Here, he created a blessed life alongside his family and friends. As a young
boy, one of his first jobs was working at the Grey Eagle shining shoes to earn his own
spending money. As a young adult, he worked at a local factory where he met and
married the love of his life, Olivia. He later gained employment with South San Antonio,
I.S.D. where he finished off his tenure as a supervisor to the district’s team of
custodians and retired after 34 years. His strong work ethic and desire to support his
family also led him to a part-time job cleaning law offices in downtown San Antonio.
Antonio was an active member of the St. Clare community and served during many
festivals including lending out his trailer for the yearly “Halloween Hayrides” in support
of the children’s festivities. Most importantly, his faith was anchored by attending
various Marriage Encounter retreats with his loving wife. He attended Mass regularly
and donated his resources to various church initiatives. Antonio loved to travel and
enjoyed taking many road trips with his family and friends. He was a devoted advocate
of fishing and hunting in his younger years and built long lasting, genuine friendships
through those hobbies. Additionally, he enjoyed dancing, but most especially dancing
through the path of life with his wife. Antonio and Olivia, together, have carried on a
family legacy through their cattle ranching based out of Charlotte, Texas. Together,
they lived out their hopes and dreams; hand in hand with their foundation built on love,
loyalty and respect.
Antonio is survived by his loving wife, Olivia M. Rodriguez, of 70 yrs. and his 3 children:
daughter, Sylvia Olivares (Robert), son, Johnny Rodriguez (Sylvia deceased), and
daughter, Yolanda R. Ochoa. Additionally, 5 grandsons: Robert Anthony (Shimeyka),
Steven Paul (Ari), Michael Rene (Amanda), John Anthony, and Christopher Alberto; 3 granddaughters: Lauren Renee, Jessica Nicole (Alec), and Hilda Rita (Robert); 4 great-
grandsons: Dean, Masen, Arisson, and Michael; 1 great-granddaughter: Alejandra; one sister Romana Cabrera and lastly numerous nieces and nephews.
