Agustin Naranjo DeLeon's Obituary
Agustin Naranjo DeLeon passed away peacefully in his home on January 26, 2025, at the age of 93. He was born on August 28, 1931, in Edroy, Texas to Vidal and Beatrice DeLeon. Agustin was raised in Monterrey, Mexico and it was there that he crossed paths with another native Texan, Minerva. They fell in love and the rest was history. Agustin and Minerva made their way back to Texas where they started their family. Together they raised nine children on the Southside of San Antonio.
Agustin worked for the Dickey Clay Factory in Saspamco, Texas for 30 years. Then he went on to pursue his dream of having his own restaurant and opened Olivia’s Mexican Restaurant in 1982 on the southeast side of San Antonio. He, along with his family, ran a successful business for 32 years until he retired. Agustin loved his customers, and his customers loved him. He also made lifelong friends there. After he retired, his daughter Yolanda took over the business. However, Agustin still helped at the register on the weekends and visited with friends until she sold the business in 2015.
Agustin was a generous man. He often gave food to the homeless when he had his restaurant and was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends. Agustin enjoyed cooking and could create delicious meals using simple ingredients. He enjoyed listening to his favorite songs and reminiscing about the good old days. He had a love for sports, and his favorite teams were the Spurs, Cowboys, and Los Angeles Dodgers. He was always ready with a story or joke to tell. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Agustin was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 59 years, Minerva, his daughter Diane DeLeon, son Robert DeLeon, granddaughter Lauren DeLeon, and his grandson Brian DeLeon. He is survived by his daughters, Yolanda Gonzalez (Frank) and Emelda DeLeon, sons John DeLeon, Edward DeLeon, David DeLeon (Rose), Vidal DeLeon, and Agustin DeLeon Jr. His grandchildren, Yvonne, John Jr., Christina, Roxanne, Jennifer, Robert Jr, Vivian, Donald, Dyane, Robert, Jeffrey, Brooke, George, Augustine, Victoria, and David Jr. He also had 24 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Agustin was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
