Abelardo Flores' Obituary
Abelardo Flores born October 28, 1937 in San Marcos, Texas passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at the age of 82 years surrounded by his family. Mr. Flores was preceded in death by his daughter, Rosalinda Henry, great-grandson, Christian Emiliano Hernandez and sister, Elida Oliva. He is survived by his wife, Elia D. Flores; son, Albert Flores (Linda); daughters, Sylvia Garza (Raymond), Theresa A. Flores, and Cynthia Garza (Francisco F. Garza, Jr.); brother in law, Osvaldo Oliva; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren; also numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Mr. Flores was a devoted family man and enjoyed spending time with his family. Early on he developed an excellent work ethic and was a hard worker all his life. He retired from the San Antonio Express and News Newspaper, formerly the San Antonio Light Newspaper. He continued to work after his retirement as a Security Guard. He enjoyed yardwork and took pride in maintaining his yard. He also enjoyed celebrating any occasion with a Margarita. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family of Mr. Flores wishes to thank the Staff at the Medical ICU at the Downtown Baptist Medical Center and the Opus Hospice Staff for their care and attention given to Mr. Flores. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Camero Funeral Home. A Rosary Service will be held on Friday, January 10, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 535 New Laredo Hwy. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at Church. Everyone is asked to meet at Church on Friday. Burial will follow at First Memorial Park Cemetery. Care has been entrusted to Camero Funeral Home.
