Juan Martinez

June 25, 1929 - June 17, 2018

Juan E. Martinez, entered eternal rest on June 17, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was 88 years old. He worked for many years as a custodian at Poteet ISD and retired from Pleasanton ISD. His love of baseball came from watching his nephews play in which his dad would often join him. His love followed when his grandchildren started playing the game. He loved hearing stories from his great grandchildren about their latest tournaments. Juan was also a Dallas Cowboys fan. Juan “TV” Martinez is also known for his restaurant in Poteet, Texas TV and Dora’s where you were sure to catch him there enjoying his beloved wife’s home cooking. He also ran bars where he gained many friends. He loved being surrounded by his family and friends, drinking coffee and catching up on the latest news. He enjoyed his grandchildren and even more so, his great grandchildren. TV lived life the way he wanted to and enjoyed every minute of it. He was born in Poteet, TX on June 25, 1929 to Aniceto and Maria Martinez. Juan is preceded in death by his parents, wife Aurora S. Martinez and daughter Beatrice Garcia, brother Felipe Martinez and wife Estefana, sister Josefina Zamora and husband Jose, sister Angelita Garcia and husband Trinedad, brother Aniceto Martinez Jr. and wife Guadalupe. He is survived by his children Jesse Carrasco and wife Margie of Buckey Arizona, Mary Oliva and husband Abelardo of Poteet, Elizabeth (Liz) Hernandez and husband Armando of Poteet, Juan Jr and wife Carmen of Pleasanton and Diane Martinez and husband Andrew of Poteet. He had 24 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren and 42 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Camero Funeral Home, 20567 TX-16, Von Ormy, TX 78073 from 4pm to 9pm with a rosary recited at 7pm on Thursday June 21, 2018. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Phillip Benizi Catholic Church in Poteet at 11am on Friday June 22, 2018. Interment will follow at First Memorial Park Cemetary. Pallbearers are grandchildren Robert Oliva, Raymond Santos, Richard Santos, Roger Santos, Michael Martinez and Mason Martinez. Honorary pallbearers are grandsons Johnny Joe Garcia and Trey Martinez and lifelong friend David Martinez.
